This week everything stays the same except the razor. I am using my AutoStrop A2 Razor and a Feather FHS-10 blade.
The WSP Formula T Pumpkin Pie Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #1 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the AutoStrop A2 Razor and a Feather FHS-10 blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
When I first started collecting razors, I shaved twice with each new one. I shaved every two days, and also used straights a lot.
Then collecting became more important than actually using them, and all I used then was my vintage Merkur 37. The handle was split, razor was usergrade, but it was fine with me. Then the base plate came loose from the handle, and I was left with a broken vintage M37.

A fabulous razor.
But. Every two days it became every three, four, five, and by the sixth day I thought: a slightly more aggressive razor might not be a bad idea.
So for the last 18 months or so, I’ve been shaving exclusively with a Valencia.
Since it’s Slantember, and today was my third shave this month, I thought: my dear Merkur, it’s your turn.
A fresh Merkur blade (they’re really good, even if a bit overpriced) and off I went. An old friend—someone I used to read and write with—whom I hadn’t seen in a long time and just ran into again. It felt like it was just yesterday.
My dear Merkur, broken and repaired, is once again my #1 razor.
